Local artisan shop with food hall and bar will hold official grand opening on August 11
(KANSAS CITY, Mo.) August 8, 2018 — More than 20 local KC artists and makers have opened up shop on the Country Club Plaza as a part of the Made in KC Marketplace, a specialty concept featuring locally-owned retail brands, a coffee shop, an ice cream shop, a creperie, a bubble tea shop and a bar. Made in KC Marketplace will hold its official grand opening with all vendors in place on Saturday, August 11 at 306 W. 47th Street.
“Made in KC Marketplace is like nothing else on the Plaza or in the area,” said Meredith Keeler, Country Club Plaza general manager. “This locally focused marketplace brings together and celebrates Kansas City makers and artists and we are excited to welcome them to the Plaza.”
The new location fills an 8,000-square-foot space and features a variety of products, including candles, coffee, T-shirts, ceramics, jewelry, artwork, soaps and other specialty items, all crafted and designed by local artists, designers and makers. The Made in KC Marketplace Bar offers an opportunity to taste dozens of local wines, spirits and beers as customers shop between vendors.
While many vendors will be permanent market residents, such as Christopher Elbow, Family Tree Nursery and MADE Urban Apparel, others will rotate seasonally to ensure constant variety and a strong representation of Kansas City’s vibrant maker scene.
“The Made in KC Marketplace is our opportunity to showcase the variety and creativity of our growing maker community,” said Keith Bradley, Made in KC Marketplace owner. “From coffee to barbeque to beer to handmade goods, Kansas City does a lot of things on a world-class level. Now we have a singular place where we can show locals and tourists alike how many amazing things are happening in our city.”
Made in KC has storefront locations in Corinth Square, Prairiefire and Briarcliff, as well as a café in the Crossroads. The Country Club Plaza is the first Made in KC Marketplace location. A representative from one of the permanent vendors will be on-site at the new Made in KC Marketplace on the second Saturday of the month to give customers an opportunity to meet the artists.
